History: Layla grew up as the youngest daughter in a sea of brothers. Her father was the mayer of a small village in the East Blue. She didn't grow up like most girls in the town and instead was raised as one of the boys, even her mother let her grow up along side her brothers. When her eldest brother Sonny joined the marines, he would come home on leave and recount stories of his time in the service. His tales often left her to romanticize the thought of life as a marine out at sea fighting pirates and upholding justice. When she was 16, her brother took her to Marineford where she was able to see what marine life was like herself. She ended up staying there for a year until she was recruited as an artillery marine specialist. From her experience she became one of the top shots in Marineford. She was even given the opportunity to serve under Admiral Akainu. Her career almost ended however when news came that her brother had been killed in Alabasta while sailing under the direction of Captain Smoker. Her family insisted that she return home not wanting to loose another child, but Layla knew that if she gave up then, everything her brother had accomplished would have been for nothing. When she was asked to serve in the G-8 Frontier Fleet, she jumped at the offer and signed on as the Fleets artillery commander.
