Description
     Brenda was all smiles the day we headed to the Animal Retreats office for our nanite treatment and transport to our wilderness preserve.  The location had to be kept secret even from us to avoid anyone trying anything unsavory with the guests.

     We turned the car over to a valet who assured me it would be safe for the duration of our trip.  The receptionist took our names and we had a seat in the waiting room.

     "So, cheetahs, huh?" I said to Brenda as she thumbed through Cosmo.  She turned to me and grinned.

     "Won't it be fun?!  We'll be slender, fuzzy kitties with long tails and spots all over!  Maybe we'll even chase down a gazelle or something," she said with a playful look in her eyes.

     I was thankful that we wouldn't HAVE to chase down our own food.  Meals would be selected through a simple computer interface in our dens, since the process would remove our vocal chords and calling for room service would be impossible.  Becoming the fastest land animal on Earth did have a certain appeal, though.  Mostly I was looking forward to cuddling with my Brenda in her own fuzzy kitty body.  I wondered if I would be able to recognize her as 'her' and still find her attractive?

     The nurse called us in and we were taken to separate 'changing rooms.'  Brenda blew me a kiss as they escorted her away.

     In the room, the technician took my blood pressure and had me fill out a medical release form while he went over the procedure.  They would inject me with the nanites, who would set to work right away.  They would recode my DNA and reconstruct my body at the same time.  I shrugged nervously, but said I understood.

     After removing my clothes and donning a hospital smock, he stuck me in the arm with a needle and pushed the silvery liquid into my veins.  He then took me into a padded gray room with a small bench built into one wall and a giant mirror.  My arm was already starting to itch.

     The technician bid me a pleasant vacation and said I should just hit a big red button on one wall if I felt there was anything wrong.  They'd come back for me when the transformation was done.

     Looking at my arm, a red rash seemed to be spreading across my skin like wildfire.  It quickly encompassed my arm and I could feel it tingling up the side of my neck.  They had said to expect some tingling.  Watching my right hand, I saw the fingers begin to shrink and the fingernails shift into claws.  The rash had reached my left hand and I watched them both change into hairless paws.  As my arms began to shorten a bit, I felt my feet lengthening as I was forced onto my toes to keep balance.  I soon fell forward on all fours and saw a tail growing out from above my butt.  I reached up and touched my ears, which were already bigger and slowly moving up on my head.  I felt my mouth pushing out and my nose flattening as it created a blind spot in the middle of my vision.  Looking in the mirror, I looked like a giant hairless cat.

     Suddenly, everything started to get blurry and I was having trouble standing, even on four legs.  I staggered a bit, trying to focus on the big red button on the other side of the room.  I could only take a few steps closer before my strength gave out and I collapsed to the floor, yawning like a sleepy kitten.
