Description
Ages ago, Nero lived on a small island named World's Edge, which was located, literally, at the end of the world, near the border of the unknown and the edge of the Matoran Universe. He and the mysterious, enigmatic Toa were the only inhabitants of that land and Nero was trained by his mentor to one day become an elemental warrior himself. With time, however, the Toa started to catch glimpses of Nero's dark side and his lust for power, and it was then when he realized that he cannot longer train him, as Nero would become a threat in the future, turning against the principles of the Toa. The master left the student without a word; Nero never learned the truth about his mentor's disappearance and had been constantly awating his return.

Years were passing by, until one day Nero found a hidden Toa stone in the abandoned house of his master and was transformed. With his new body and abilites, Nero set out on a journey to find his long-lost friend and reached the island of Artas Nui, a grim dark metropolis, ruled by a greedy and power-hungry businessman known as Vrex.

Following the principles of the Toa that his master taught him, Nero became the city's guardian and shortly after that he met Arctica, female Toa of Ice and another one of the island's protectors. The two quickly became close friends, soon falling in love with each other, and were Artas Nui's top duo, even though the island had other Toa, these were never as good as them.

One day, the city was invaded by an army of barbarians of the Southern Lands, seeking new islands to conquer. While Arctica, with the help of others, was taking care of the citizens who managed to survive in the undergrounds of Vrex's headquarters, Nero led a group of warriors to the final confrontation against the enemy forces; nobody knows what happened with him after that, but during the battle he must've seen something that completely changed his view of the world. When the survivors finally left the underground hideouts and reached the surface, all they saw were scorching ruins and dead bodies; however, Nero's body was nowhere to be seen.

In despair, Arctica turned away from everyone and began living a cold and lonely life; that is until she met Vox with whom, just like in the good old days, she began to guard the city once again.

Years later, Nero returned, leading an army of mechanical soldiers with the purpose of conquering the entire world; seeing other beings with elemental powers as a threat to the universe, he rose against them, planning to enslave all of the powerless inhabitants, put them to sleep and wipe out their memories, while anihilating the ones able to control the elements, so that after the enslaved people would have woken up, he and Arctica would become their masters, ruling the universe as the Emperor and Empress of the New World.

Arctica was unaware of this plan, however, and when Nero finally reached out to her with his vision, she rejected him. Nero and Vox then fought in a fierce duel over the Sun Crystal - a powerful artifact believed to be a key to power so great that even the Great Spirit himself fears it - which was the only hope to end the war, for both parties. During the showdown, Vox managed to grab the crystal and push it into Nero's chest; the light then emitted from the stone, blinding everyone and when it finally faded away, Nero, along with the crystal, were nowhere to be seen...

Nero vanished again, and while most people believe he had died, burnt by the crystal's power, the thought of doubt still echoes in the minds of Vox, Arctica and others who fought in the war - has Nero really died?
Or is he out there, somewhere, plotting his evil schemes;

and is the doomsday still coming?
