Here are the process shots of how I made the shield for the Dark Souls contest

1. The initial thumbnail, really just a quick sketch.

2. After scanning the thumbnail I did a full drawing. I would normally do this in pencil but in this case I used Photoshop for the drawing.

3. At this point I've turned the line art into an overlay layer and have painted in values and some light rendering on a layer underneath it.

4. I've started overlaying textures and tightening up the highlights.

5. Here I've added the gold trim and fine tuned miscellaneous details and correct any thing bugging me.
