Description Did you know that the first Dragon Ball Z movie's Dead Zone was inspired by and named after Stephen King's legendary novel of the same name?

The then-showrunners of the Dragon Ball Z portion of the Dragon Ball Z/GT/Super franchise suggested Stephen King's sci-fi thriller as the basis for the first Dragon Ball Z movie, since one of them enjoyed reading the book. Early on, the book itself served as the inspiration for David Cronenberg's legendary 1983 sci-fi thriller movie.

Did you also know that the Fishmen of the One Piece franchise's fame were named after a popular Japanese psychedelic music band of the same name?

That idea was suggested to the then-showrunners of the One Piece anime due to a legal situation. The same was the reason why the other considered names were all discarded.

Both the Dragon Ball and the One Piece franchises are owned by Shueisha and Toei Animation. No copyright infringement intended!
