Description My mid-term project for Etching. 9X9 copper plate.
Techniques: Hard ground, Aquatint, Relief Roll

We were told to illustrate opposite concepts. I thought of the organic horse and the inorganic machine, and combined them. People in class said the horse looked sick, which I thought was cool, hence the title.

I wasn't terribly pleased with how this turned out, but oh well. People seemed to like it enough.

mm. distinctly 'you'. i mean, there's a horse. imagination. brilliant concept. reminds me of ted mckeever.

you do more stuff like this, you can start exhibiting. not gonna happen with your comix (even if them's your favrit).

Meh, exhibition hasn't ever really tickled my fancy. I just don't care enough about conceptual fine art to get an idea going. Which is horrible, since I'm a Studio Arts major at a college where fine art is God, but after three years of forcing concepts out of myself, I've figured out that my passion for art will come in the form of stupid comics that will never make me money or famous. OH WELL.

I really love all your etching stuff, myself. You should take it again. Cuz this and the other one look seriously badass and I am jealous and blargh. So you should do it more because I bet you will never do it ever again once you are out of school.

I can't take the class again. XD I could do directed study, but I don't have enough time for that.

No, I probably won't. It doesn't really get me bummed, because while this is fun and everything, it's not something I could get really good at. I just don't care about the process enough. XD

Also organic vs. inorganic is a crazy cool idea. I'm glad I'm not an art major, I'd never be able to come up with something like that...I'd probably do like...Lady Gaga vs. a forklift. Because they're opposite? God, now I'm really glad I'm not an art major, I am bad at this.

Lady Gaga vs. a forklift would be awesome. I'd like to see that. XD Mechanical horses have been something I've always thought about, because I remember doodling one in my geometry class, 10th grade. Of course, I realized making this how much I hate drawing machinery. DX

Indeed, it does look steampunk. One of my classmates said that too. Though the front part of the horse is a motorcycle engine. FUN FACT.
