Description Well, here's two characters I always planned but never drew. The brains and brawn of the initial Decepticon forces for my stuff. I just could never decide what I wanted these two to look like. When I did my previous picture though with Bulkhead and Breakdown fight in the upper left I figured "yeah...I should probably finally do them". I think the hardest thing honestly was deciding what Knockout should look like. He's got a pretty iconic look now with his Prime incarnation, but I didn't want to just copy and paste that like they did in the comics, so I messed around with his head a bit to to work in some aspects for his older incarnation. I...I think I'm fine with how they turned out.

A native to Velocitron, the speedy glamorous Transformer known as Knockout spent his days blazing through the racer tracks and earning fame and, more importantly, money through his victories. When he wasn't too fond of actual competition though and just in the mood for an easy credit, Knockout would take to racing "lesser" vehicles in illegal street circuits for easy wins. If there was one thing he hated it was the dirt and scrapes that could come from actual competition, and with less skilled opponents in the underground scene he had a much easier time keeping his finished untouched. Over time however it became his main source of income until finally he just dropped out of the professional scene all-together.

Getting more and more success from his illegal activities, Knockout soon saw the benefit in contributing his medical expertise to his endeavors as well. It wasn't long before he was a full-blown criminal. But he didn't mind too much. The money kept flowing in. Whenever there was a setback he knew he could make up for it later. To a fault. With how involved the speedy Transformer had become, Knockout found himself hunted by hordes of peace-keeping squads ultimately forcing him off Velocitron and through the galaxy until the heat died down. He had only just barely managed to avoid capture one final time due to a runin with another criminal whom he'd never seen before. The larger burlier Breakdown.

Having grown up on the streets of lower-class Cybertron, Breakdown had shuddered his way through life. The first experiences he could recall were of him getting Energon taken from him by other low-lifes. In those levels it'd been every-bot for himself, and him? He'd been the one that couldn't be for himself. The one every bot had taken from. Every time he'd managed to get some footing in life someone else pulled it right out from under him. And it made him paranoid. Every waking moment of his life had been him looking over his shoulder for someone that'd beat him down and take his possessions. It was utter misery.

And he'd probably have stayed like that if he hadn't been found by someone. Having taken interest in the outcast, the gang leader, Motormaster, recruited the paranoid bot for a project he'd had in the works. Being forced into service, Breakdown had little choice but to obey his new master. When his instincts told him to run away from a battle Motormaster and his been dragged him onto the field. When he panicked and cried about how a heist might end with one of them offline the others berated him. Somehow it felt even worse than when he'd been living on the streets. And finally, one day, it changed. One too many bots did go offline. Because of him. Because of his cowardice and paranoid nature. They'd been trying to get him to move and had wound up dead for it. And he knew it'd been his fault. The only one that walked away from that fight had been Breakdown himself, and he was a different bot than when he'd entered.

Though still worrying beneath the surface, Breakdown's paranoia was now something that aided him. No longer did he just cower in fear. Now he expected and prepared for it. Now he faced it. He may not have been the smartest bot in the galaxy, but he definitely had a sense for danger that no other did. Now a bot had to be stealthy beyond the normal parameters to get the jump on him. And those that couldn't better have the strength to survive. Fortunately for him, his "muscle" was easily made up for by Knockout's "brains", and the two soon became fast friends and co-workers, scouring the cosmos for profit. A lifestyle that came to a head once they were finally recruited by the Transformer that had commissioned the project Motormaster had been working on initially. The Decepticon warlord, Megatron.

So yeah, I've always had these two planned for my stuff. Ever since day 1 they'd been intended to be Starscream's right hand bots. For the first "season" there would pretty much be no Megatron until the finale with everyone (all the Autobots at least) thinking him dead leaving Starscream in command of the Decepticons on Earth. Having worked alongside Knockout and Breakdown previously when they'd had their battles against what would become Unit E (Arcee, Bulkhead, Raf, Jack, Miko, (the old) Bumblebee, Ratchet, and Autoport Convoy (essentially their Optimus)), they were a shoe-in for main Cons. Also they just work really well as characters. Their whole "those two guys" of the bad guys thing. There'd be other Decepticons that would show up for missions, but they'd be the main ones operating things under Starscream.

Knockout would only occasionally go out on mission as he'd mainly be the medic while Breakdown is more often-than-not on the field, which is somewhat preferable to their forces. Given Breakdown's upbringing, he knows what it's like to be used and have life kick you around so he relates more to the Vehicons than other Decepticons. He holds conversations with them sometimes and will knock one out of the way even if he sees them about to get hurt. But one bot he seems to have a mutual respect for is his rival, Bulkhead. Having interacted throughout Bulkhead's time while partnered with Miko, Breakdown and him have quite a history and sometimes their matches become more about simply fighting each other than actually completing a mission.

Eventually though, Breakdown would meet his end at the hands of Airachnid. With her having betrayed Megatron's forces at the end of their conflicts against Autoport Convoy's team, Breakdown would be more than eager to hunt her down when she shows back up again during the current time period. Sadly she'd be too much for him and he'd wind up mortally wounded. Jack and Arcee would end up taking her down but Breakdown, realizing he would die, decides to have one last fight with Bulkhead outside of the caves that she's holed up in. Afterwards, despite having the opportunity to, Optimus would decide not to have Knockout captured who'd been tending to Breakdown's body and leave him to mourn his friend.

Knockout's own growth would progress more after Breakdown's passing with him become more "friendly" with Starscream and irritated when Motormaster shows up with how he talks of his old comrade. He'd become more involved in missions and become a bit fed up with the Decepticon alliance over time after he sees enough of how expendable everyone seems to be and how, with so many Decepticons fleeing to Earth in "Season 2", he seems to be getting pushed more and more to the side with other characters from "Season 1". By the end he's willing, if somewhat reluctant given what they're up against, to support the Autobots in the Decepticon-Autobot partnership against Unicron during the end of the series.
