Description
While I was working on my current mod project for Fallout 4 and added some consumables from New Vegas, I realized how incredibly bad Bethesda and Obsidian implemented the good old Psycho chem from Fallout 1+2 - the mesh looked so wrong on many levels I simply couldn't stand it. Sooo ... I see a problem, I fix it if I am able to. ^^The new Psycho injector I developed stays as true as possible to the original design, however I modified it a bit to make it look at least a bit like it could actually work. Can't say how many hours I eventually spent on this thing, but I can wholeheartedly say that I'm really satisfied with the result.
The basic idea for this approach is that the Psycho injector is not some obscure syringe with two bottles attached to it to make it look cool, instead it is a gas-operated automatic system which mixes two chemicals and injects it into the users as soon as the plunger is pushed down.
In order to use the injector, the operator turns the butterfly nut on the top of the smallest tube until the yellow marking on it aligns with the yellow marking on the tube. This releases the gas cartridge inside the tube to slam down on a needle, opening it and releasing compressed gas into the tube on the right. However, the gas is blocked by a valve connected to the central plunger over a spring-loaded lever. Also, the plunger itself seals off a valve at the top of the central tube, which leads to a chamber inside with a flee-floating piston sitting on top of one of the chemicals. A bar leading along the outside of the central tube connects the plunger with a third valve sealing off the mixer right behind the needle, which is designed like an aspirator.
When the wooden plunger is pressed down against the spring, both valves on the top and the mixer valve are opened. The gas presses the second chemical through the mixer, dragging the other chemical out of the central tube. As both chemicals are rushing through the needle, the chemicals are mixed and activated, creating the chem develeoped before the war to turn US soldiers into unstoppable killing machines.
