Description
EDIT: Everyone can use this avatar!Hi there my friends!
For the first time in YEARS I'm changing my Grumpy Ichigo Avatar for another one... (It should have been changed by now... but I have no idea what happened...
I posted a journal some time ago, if you'd like to take a look at my Ramblings full of indignation you can check it out here
(There are also some links and Videos as well so you may know what this Damn ACTA is about):
SOPA/PIPA/ACTA! Where's FREEDOM?!!Godammit... :iconfacepalmplz:
What the hell is wrong with some people creating so many absurd bills like SOPA/PIPA and now this ACTA? (that particularly is scaring the hell out of me) >_<
About Piracy I totally agree with Neil Gaiman in this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qkyt1wXNlI
If sharing means piracy, then each one of you that has ever lent a book, a DVD, a Game or something else from a friend ARE ALL PIRATES! The only difference from normal sharing is that internet makes it grow to a global scale.
Has SOPA been put down or delayed? Keep your eyes open, please. Governments tend to wait until people forget things to a
And now I'm posting this avatar GIF so you can use it if you'd like (no need for credits! the only requirement is to be against that ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) bill that, if approved, will go against so many constitutional laws and human rights, it will take away your privacy and probably your Speech Freedom.)
and I'll finish with a Copy/Paste from my journal (because in fact I'm working and I don't really have too much time to spend on internet today ):
"How can you try stopping it?
Guess many of you haven't seen about it on television lately did you? They don't want you to know what it really is.
So divulge it!
Search ACTA on Google! (While you still can. We don't know much time till the BIG GUY$ that created this bill will let the knowledge out there)
Learn about it! So you may know how to stop it or if you agree with it. Everyone has the right to take their own conclusions (although this bill will probably only benefit the ones who hold the power of money on our societies)
Sign petitions! I'll leave some links here: Oppose ACTA from Change.Org: [link]
Stop ACTA: [link]
Anti-ACTA: [link]
(I'll update if I find some more or if someone else have some to indicate me)More on How to act against ACTA: [link]
Spread the knowledge so more people will find out how much they'll be loosing with it and protest! On the streets, on internet, everywhere!
This way you let those Greedy Pigs know that you are alert and have more people backing you up on this that aren't satisfied!
Last year many proved that when we act together we can FREE Countries. So this year, do not let the Governments decide that the world as we know will really end 2012 (and so on) as a worse one.
And remember: Back in the Humanity's past they used to burn books. Nowadays they are Shutting Sites Down.
PEACE AND FREEDOM TO ALL!"
By the way!!
I'm not North American (I'm Brazilian in fact) but I see many people blaming the Americans because of these bills (I also know it's a way of saying). But since I've been seeing that many North Americans (the citizens) are really pissed off with those bills I think it is really nice to stop saying DAMN AMERICANS all around because of it, don't you think?
People are not to blame for some Damn-Anti-Human-Rights-Dude$ have born on North American Lands or Europe or Asia or any other part of the Planet.
See mates!
Now move your ass and so something as well!
Don't wait for others to fight for you the same way others are waiting for you to fight for them.

If they try another bloody acronym-based censorship bill, it will be worth it just to take a machine gun to everyone involved.
And just for the record, I do pretty much blame Americans. Just not all of them. Only the ones that somehow manage to get themselves into government all the time. The general populace is actually pretty intelligent about these things.

"I do pretty much blame Americans."
I take offense to that.
What are you? British? Australian? Seems the Brits always have it out for us Americans, don't know why (they like us enough, but sometimes I wonder).
Back on topic: Favin' this!

I'm Australian, but if you're not one of the politicians supporting this kind of thing, my comment wasn't directed at you. ^^
That said though...it was an American who thought of the SOPA bill. I don't know what conclusion I'm supposed to take from that, but to me that means that there is someone in America who is so exasperatingly, unbelievably and infuriatingly stupid to think of this bill, and influential enough to keep trying even in the face of such overwhelming disapproval by the public.

Well, I'm not sure who it is, but I do know one exceptionally exasperating, unbelievably infuriating politician would be my President (God bless him). Seems like a few very influential Americans are trying to ruin my country, and it seems like they'll try to ruin the rest of the world too, while they're at it...

I'd honestly give your President a bit more slack than he normally gets. Unfortunately, there are people lining up to have their chance at ruining your country, and a lot of them would do a better job at it than Obama has. In the spirit of this journal, he even said he'd veto SOPA if it got through, and I don't think he'd be getting so much flak if he had gotten the chance to do so.

Hmm... I find it mildly depressing that you appear to know more about my countries politics than I. I was not aware he had said that. Perhaps I judge too harshly; afterall, are we not all mere humans? No one is perfect...

I read in wikipedia that on 26 January, 2012, (today) the European Union and 22 Member States signed the treaty (without Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Netherlands and Slovakia.)
If the EU refused to sign we might have won already, but now....
Things are gonna bad.
We have to stand our ground!!!!!

You're awesome for this ;A;
My friend told me that the ACTA hasn't been voted on yet. Legislators and politicians are going to re-discuss it again in Feburary. I just hope they aren't the power-hungry, money-hungry jerks that people (myself included) think they are and actually PASS this law.
People keep saying that they want the bill to pass so people can see how bad it is, but that is SO STUPID!!! If you want picket signs and rebellion, then head down to wall St. or something and get an eyeful! I don't need some stupid trade Act to be regulating my freedom on the cxomputer!!! And I CAN'T believe this isn't being covered on TV! How shady!!! But all evil is punished eventually.

The European Parliament hasn't voted on ACTA yet, but a lot of executives, including US president Obama, have signed it.
Obama actually seems to think that this qualifies as an "executive treaty" and that he has the right to single-handedly pass this. This is, for the record, not uniformly agreed upon: (whitehouse.gov Petition: Please Submit ACTA to the Senate for Ratification as Required by the Constitution for Trade Agreements: ) [link] .
Anyway, though, yes. I'm very much hoping it winds up getting rejected.
As for your point about people wanting it to pass so people can see how bad it is: I agree that that's stupid. Seems we have PLENTY of people that see this as PLENTY of a problem. The question just comes down to if our collective voices are strong enough to counter the lobbyists that want this stuff passed so they can exploit it.
The answer is looking like it may be.

Ok, so... to be fair: I've lost A LOT of respect for Obama over this whole ACTA deal [the 2012 NDAA is a little more complicated. Obama could have tried to veto that, but because it also represented the governments defense spending (the primary purpose of the NDAA, for those that might not know. The whole "indefinite detainment" thing was just a case of the horror that is tack-on tactics), any attempt to veto it would have just guaranteed a "veto over-ride," so instead he negotiated it down to something that basically just overlapped with Bush's Patriot Act, which was already in place. But... I digress], but I do think that most of the republican candidates currently being considered would likely have pulled similar shenanigans.
Ron Paul is a possible exception, but Ron Paul seems to have other issues. More over: Ron Paul confuses me, so it's hard for me to say much of ANYTHING concrete about him right now.
So... I guess what I'm trying to say is: How long till third party choices start becoming viable options? XD.

..You guys know.. that it isn't as bad as it sounds, and probably would do very little to no damage to the internet.. right? People have just been blowing up and exaggerating them, it's really not that bad. My father works for the government, he loves social networking, and he assured me the government wouldn't do anything that drastic, and they are only doing it for the security of our country and everything we have to be proud of. But go ahead! express you're rights and give your opinions! I respect them all!

Yeah, damn right. ACTA allows government to know EVERYTHING about you! Even your DNA code and your saxual preferences! And no, it's not a joke. The question is: why? Why do they need that data?...
Besides, whoever wants to protect their works/art can do it wiht help of police and court. The government has no right to involve into citizens' lives against their will.
