Description Mermaids will lay eggs and the male will fertilize them with his sperm. Being half human, the mermaid will only lay one egg. She summons this egg by herself, but she can only do it by the time she gets her adult tail, around age 12-14, and only once a year. The egg will have a unique marking and color, and a merperson will come to the house once it is laid and fertilized, mark the color and pattern, and take the egg to the nursery. The nursery has minimal water (just enough for an adult to swim) and the eggs are on pedestals so the mer-babies can breathe when they come out. The first few days of their life, they are taken care of by legged merpeople and humans under the sea, until the gills form properly. This can take from a day to a week. When they can breathe properly underwater, they are returned to their mothers.

Size- They are slightly larger than human babies
Eyes- The eye shapes are all very similar, and most eye colors fall as close to one of 14 different shades. The eye color range broadens as the child becomes a toddler.
Skin Color- Their skin color is usually close to one of their parents, but they can have any human skin color, and any shade of white, blue, green, pink, purple, red, teal, or yellow, but eccentric skin colors are very uncommon.
Hair Color- Their hair color can be any human shade, or any shade of orange, red, pink, fuschia, purple, dark teals, blue, green, and green-browns. However, the last nine hair colors are uncommon.
Hair Texture- All merbabies
Tail- Their tail is just a typical mermaid tail, in any color, with translucent fins and belts in any color.
Fins- Other than their tail fin, they have no fins. No arm fins, back fins, tail fins...
These young children often seem to glow bright colors in any point on the tail or body for the first couple months after birth. These fade with time, just leaving a faintly glowing mark. This is considered beautiful. These have varying degrees of brightness, and the faintest will be barely visible adulthood.

The picture depicts a merbaby with a faintly glowing red mark on his tail, dark pink skin, gray hair, purple tail, yellow fins, and brown eyes.
