Although Deerhead is the de facto leader of The Horde, a second-in-command was nominated to assist in his operations. As a fawn; Thatch was indistinguishable from any other Horde Fawn, although he showed signs of higher intelligence. He exhibited problem-solving skills, great tactical awareness, and would closely study his enemies. Deerhead recognized horrifying potential within the small creature, and kept him close as the Black Forest expanded.

As an adult; Thatch grew into a vicious creature unlike any of the other Horde Deor. Violent spikes grew from his back; a status symbol to flaunt his title and remind other Deor who he was. Bladed tentacles sprouted from his wrists, coming alive like writhing worms as they shot forward to spear prey. He would spend his life solely devoted to Deerhead; forever standing at the alpha's side, ready to serve at will.
