Description With a heavy heart; I have to put this into the macabre section. Because although to me, it isnt, I know that to the whole; it is. It based (well rather, a copy) of a picture drawn by Paul Kidby, who illustrated the Terry Pratchett book 'The Last Hero'. Being a direct copy, designed to further my skills at drawing and purely because I liked the picture, it has no expression of myself. However, what it does contain is a lot of thoughts about my self; it invokes deep feelings about myself without actually expressing myself. Confusing perhaps; but truthful. I have feared death only once; when I was young, and first understood its implications. Now I see death as a friend, and although I very much doubt his face looks like this, and indeed it doesnt to me, it is what many people would consider a representation of death. Hence raising the question of, can an artist express himself through work which is not linked to him; but by working on assumptions people veiwing it will make about him? Its a bit of a paradox if you understand it, which I do, but fail to explain it very well. Most people regard this as being one of my finest pencil drawings; although to me it lacks personality (being a copy of a drawing) and therefore does not hold such high regard to me.
