Description
This is a fairly experimental peice, done as an exercise in painting flesh. I'm used to painting young people, my friends, and it was refreshing to work on this much older face. It's also the first time I've worked on canvass, which I've found to be very pleasurable to work on. To try and create some emotion and to encourage me to paint emotively I've tried to create the effect of him being on his death bed. Whether I've successfully conveyed this remains to be seen.
