Description
I felt that it was time to be experimental, and inspired by Aja's work here:[link]
I decided to break my mould and paint abstractly, using a palette knife. It was much harder than I first thought it would be, a lot more thought goes in to each stroke even though there are fewer of them. When I paint normally, it's thin layers and small strokes. Here it's very thick, working boldly with a lot of paint and a knife. Each stroke must count so much more than with my normal style of painting.
The picture itself was based on a picture of Liv Tyler who is a favourite beauty of mine. This is the picture, the cover to one of my favourite films:

Overall I am pleased with the painting because I found it so challenging. However I am disappointed with the hair, which I think could be done much better. Still it's good practise and hopefully my next attempt at something like this will be better.

Tom I love this piece so much, if a little haunting, but I have it kept up in my room safely and think of you when I look at it. I have finally found your work on this site, I will be able to have a proper look at your art. x

It's been a while since I've painted it, and so now I see all the flaws! I still like it, but it's not a patch on Aja's standard. Still for being the first knifed piece I think it works well.
I think another piece in this style will be coming soon...

Your balance of colour is really nice though. Like to see more like this!
