Description The Doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead and picked up his cup of tea taking a big sip of it, a slightly sad smiled spreading across his face as the central pillar of the TARDIS began its interlocking cycle of movement. As the lights came on he switched off the generator and walked out to the front door, still with his cup of tea in his hands, warming them up on the mug, he looked down the San Francisco alleyway onto the main street as the rain fell heavily dripping onto his head from the top of the doorframe. “Right,” he said to no one in particular as he shut the door and headed back to the console “No time like the future,” he inputted a new time, stopped, and sighed. “Goodbye Grace,” he said out loud, he didn’t want to leave her, but she wanted a romantic relationship, here and now in the year 2000, and he couldn’t deliver that, he couldn’t stay here, even for her, he had tried before and it didn’t work. His line of thought snapped back to the present and her put in the coordinates GALLIFREY then the time RASSILON ERA, he was singing to himself quietly to distract his train of thoughts as the TARDIS whirred into life. He was heading back home, and had a lot of explaining to do. After a short while the engine whirred down and the doctor picked up his coat and made his way outside, thinking through what he was going to say to Chancellor Romana and the other members of the council.

He opened the door, “now I can, explain,” he trailed off as he realised this wasn’t Gallifrey it was raining, and it was Earth, but it wasn’t San Francisco. He lowered his hands from the surrender position and looked around at the buildings, this all looked very familiar, he read a sign, “I’m in Wales, Cardiff,” he said out loud as dashed back inside, “Why have you sent me to Cardiff of all places,” he asked the TARDIS  and checked the console, which read CARDIFF, WALES, 12th FEBRUARY, 2008. “Hang on there is a rift in Cardiff, and thanks to The Master there is one in California, maybe they’re linked,” he said talking to no one. He was interrupted as heard a knock at the TARDIS’ door, the Doctor nearly jumped, who knew he was here? He checked the external camera, a man in a long blue air force coat and a woman with long jet black hair stood at the door, he looked at them for a second, the man seeming familiar. He walked to the door with some apprehension and opened it.
“You’re not who I expected,” the man said, slightly taken aback by the Doctors appearance. “I’m sorry, I’m the,” but the Doctor was interrupted
“… The doctor, I know, so we haven’t met before?” the man said, he was an American
“I don’t think so, we might have, my memory isn’t what it used to be,”
“Well, just in case we haven’t met,” he offered his hand, “Captain Jack Harkness,”
“Right, well, pleased to meet you, Captain of what? And you say you’ve met me before,”
“Two of you, I’m guessing you’ve regenerated again,”
“Well, yes, I have recently, that would probably explain it,”
“What brings you to Cardiff then doctor?” said Jack,
“I think I ended up here accidentally,”
“Don’t we all, is your time machine malfunctioning,”
“Um, yes,  yes it is, I was aiming for Gallifrey and ended up here,” it began to rain, “Captain, would you like to come inside,” the doctor added, and the Captain and his companion walked towards the TARDIS. “Oh, by the way, Doctor, this is Gwen Cooper,”
The doctor smiled, “a pleasure to meet you,”
“The same,” Gwen replied, finding she couldn’t help but smile, and the doctor led them inside into the dry.
“Interesting redecoration, even larger still on the inside, rather flamboyant,” Jack said looking around, “Very different to last time I was in here,” he added,
“Last time?” The Doctor asked “What did I look like when you,” he stopped talking as once again he was interrupted.  There was a slight dimming of the lights the door slammed shut, the doctor was about to comment on the wind when the engine whirred into life and they all spun round. “What’s going on?” Gwen asked, “Are we travelling through time?”
“I haven’t touched anything,” said the doctor protesting and frantically checking the console, Gwen gasped and the doctor turned to face Jack who was fading away, before he could turn back to the console the captain was gone. “Jack!” Gwen exclaimed out loud, and rushed over to where he had been standing. The Doctor checked his console, “I’m trying to track him, according to this he is still in the TARDIS,”
“Where are we headed?” asked Gwen staggering over to him as the TARDIS shook
“I” he paused “I don’t know,”
“Are you really the famous doctor?” asked Gwen
“I’m sorry if I’m not doing my reputation in Cardiff any justice Ms Cooper,” the Doctor said defensively, “We are heading,” he was cut off by the TARDIS shaking and throwing them to the ground. “Nowhere, we’re here, wherever here is.” He said looking to the door.

They opened the door and stepped out, “Oh it is me, I mean you,” a voice said, the Doctor turned to face it, stood in front of an identical blue box was a short man with a pudding bowl like haircut in a scruffy suit; he looked for all the world like a cosmic hobo. “Yes it is, Doctor, Jamie, Zoe it’s good to see you again,” said the doctor, both companions looked confused, “So, which one are you,” asked the other Doctor
“The Eighth, oh, this is Gwen Cooper, by the way, Gwen, this is my Second incarnation,”
“Yes, Jack said you could do that,” said Gwen looking slightly annoyed as she looked around, they were stood in a grass field overlooking a Valley. “So Doctor,” said Two walking over “What brings you to 17th century Gloucestershire?” he asked
“We aren’t here by choice, I had arrived in 21st century Cardiff by accident and as we were trying to fix the TARDIS it started going again, and a Captain Jack Harkness vanished from within the TARDIS,”
“How strange we’re here unintentionally as well, we were aiming for Ancient Rome,”
“I see, well, its very strange because I have no memory of being you meeting me, which in theory I should,”
“Yes, although that has happened before, when I have met my other selves, due to the unusual, um, events surrounding the encounters”
“Yes, well, this, any idea whose,” the Eighth doctor was interrupted and the Second let out a sigh as the familiar sound of the TARDIS approaching was heard and he turned to check if his was travelling randomly again. Another was appearing, forming a triangle with the first two. Two and Eight waited, Eight with curiosity and Two with impatience  to see which Doctor was in it. The door opened, “So Ace the interesting thing about the 29th century is,” he stopped and looked around.
“Hello Doctor,” said the eighth
“Oh Dear,” Replied the Seventh and there was a lengthy pause, until finally the Second Doctor spoke
“So, here I am”
