A wonderful image - I love the detail in it, how everything has that patina of time. On the technical side, it's so wonderfully crisp - love the soft light as well. Great piece!

Thanks,

I processed the image as I normally do, then I collapsed the layers and added another layer to give the aged look. It took some experimenting with the depth and density, but I think it came out OK

The title is a bit morbid for the subject matter.
"The Botanist's Legacy" perhaps.
Only a jeweler's loop isn't what they'd use. The watch would go with anything, as would the leather case. You could replace the plant with loose stones or ...
Just letting my mind wander over it a bit. Pay me no heed.

Like I say, you have to interpret this in your own way. This is one of those images that grows slowly, then takes on a life of its own. So it is really kind of hard to speak to the various parts of it. Somehow they all fit for me, but I guess it depends on who the person is and what they bring to the image.

Enjoy.

Perhaps speculating on the meaning is the point.

lol...

I think so.

When I started it has a particular meaning to me, but in the process, it changed a lot. A friend of mine wanted me to do a monty python sort of thing.

I kind of passed on the Monty thing... I did do one setup but I won't post it. Maybe I will send it to him.

Do you mean the magnifying glass? I used it for checking out negative quality many years ago.

EintoeRn In reply to WayneBenedet [2010-02-12 17:05:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes, we used a lot in mineralogy and petrology, especially in the field ...

WayneBenedet In reply to EintoeRn [2010-02-12 17:13:26 +0000 UTC]

I can see that, quite high quality glass. My dad may still have one that is ancient. I will have to ask him about it.

I also have a set of magnifying glasses that clip to regular eye glasses. I think they are used by jewelers, but I use them whenever I need fine detail.
