Description Re-process and correction of an old image.

To me, this image speaks to a life that is lost, and for the most part totally forgotten. A life in which there was a connectedness between man and creation. While modern technology has created great strides in growth and development, for which we are all indebted, there is also a loss that has been created. In a way, we have all lost a part of our roots, which help to create a sense of purpose, belonging and stability. In today’s world, there is a belief that we are all independent and separate, yet each of us continues to long for connection and to belong. And while me may believe that we are islands unto ourselves, like this old wagon, we are waiting for a discovery that will prove our value and worth.

THE FORGOTTEN by: kayarlynnean

Souls are wandering
Among this battlefield
Forgotten
What are their stories?
The tales they have told?
Are they forever lost,
Within a past not meant to be?
These souls are wandering
Searching for some way home
But they are trapped
They cannot get out
They are forever lost
Among this battlefield
Forgotten
What will come of their stories?
Of the tales they have told?
What will come of their families?
Of what they’ve left behind?
I’m standing here on this hilltop
I can feel their pain
And I am stuck with them
In a past not meant to be
Now I’m asking
What will come of their stories?
Of the tales they have told?
Of the lives they have lived?
I am being transported
Through time
To a past not meant to be
As I stand here on this hilltop
Alone
In a battlefield
Of loss
Now…
Everything
Is forgotten

Wow this is nice (:
I like how detailed it is. I can see the sharpening halos, though :\
But even so, it's a really nice subject and composition

Believe me..no sharpening has happened on this image (it was not necessary). But there are some very subtle techniques being used in a layerd format. Firstly the image was produced using HDR processing. Then an additional five layers were added. One of those layers uses a mask. It is perhaps this layer that you are talking about. The layers are not all added equally, some are multiplied in place, others are normal, one of them darkens and in addition, they are not equal in th epercentage of strength over the base image. Actually I have been using one layer consistently in the last number of images that I have posted. But this is the first that I have posted using the masking layer.

I believe you, but sharpening is a masking layer itself, and I think it's the kind you did; I'm guessing you blurred that layer and then set it to overlay or multiply (of course I could be very wrong ), essentially sharpening the image with a very large radius.
I still think the photo is very good, but I just guess it would look even better if it didn't have that halo around the cart, which tells me immediately that it was processed with a computer.
Of course this is only my opinion, and if that was the effect you were after, you don't need to worry about what I say.
Greetings

I understand all of that, but no sharpening happened, yet I did apply a masking layer wichaffected the lines in the image. i don't intend to go into detail, because the way I produce my images is not something that I share.

But the halo around the cart...yes it is mildly visible, but that was not caused by a filter or even a layer, rather it was caused by the removal of a layer from those areas. This was a choice I made in production.

Great picture with a great message attached to it.
It's composed brilliantly, and the muted tones really speak out of times gone by.
I love it! I have a facination with rustic, abandoned and old things...

thank you.

This is perhaps the most complex image I have ever posted. It starts as an HDR, then there are five layers added. I have been using one layer consistently in all the pictures I have posted since "Sentinels". This image however went beyond that and I experimented with a masking layer. apparewntly to some people, they think I have sharpened the image.
