Love the tight shot of this. The two lamps above the plate seem to express a forborne or slightly depressed feeling to this piece, and of course that plays well with the title.

thanks a bunch. There are two photographic principles that are in direct opposition. The first is move in close to your subject (and use the concept, of allowing a part to represent the whole). The second, is back up... back WAAAAYYYY up. Teaching these two concepts to students is a challenge, because they see them as direct opposites and sometimes they get confused. And I am not sure I am always successful in presenting the ideas. Perhaps a better way to explain them would be... let the subject determine how close you are. Not sure that is much better, but it is one of the things I have to work hard at explaining in my classes.

I was also thinking how great it would look on one of those aged metal hanging pictures that they sell in some of the home decoration stores here and in the home deco section of Hobby Lobby here. It's like a picture printed/transferred and then slightly aged on old metal hung with wire or even old can tabs. I actually know how to do it.
