Actually judging by the angel of the hilt it's just a huge sword. Either that or he screwed up the perspective and bent the hilt almost 90 degrees...

hm even if he wanted it to be bend and look like that, in the pic it looks really off and strange... if someone really intends to draw a bend hilt then he should try to draw it in a way that it looks like bend but not wrong....
anyway Wen-M 's pics are really cool and the details and designs are most times great, but I figured out that he sometimes has problems with perspective (or lets say it seems that he doesn't care about it ... maybe ?) one of my teachers in school, who is an experienced artist says that too, great detail but with an odd perspective it ends up being unprofessional.....
oh well... everyone of us has problems with different things
