Someone mentioned earlier that she is reminiscent of one of the mythological gods. I believe the Hopi Indian tribe had a Goddess "Spider Woman" named Kokyanwuhti (I had to look that name up XD)
She is certainly what I would imagine a spider goddess looking like.
