Ooouu, she's cute. I like how you kept to the Dryad lore and have her rooted to the plant/tree.

Gotta say, I love the smooth transition between the flesh tones and the green tones. Looks so soft and purdeh. <3 And the way her hair goes from.. well.. hair to bark? Awesomeness.

Very beautiful.
BTW, in terms of gameplay, how hostile is the dryad towards player characters, and what special abilities and attacks does she have?

im not too sure yet, but probably not all creatures are hostile

Well, if you do decide on how the dryad reacts and behaves towards player characters, leave a comment in my deviant account.

Incredible work as ever, Wen-M.
Hey, I don't suppose there are any pointers or anything you can show me as far as making artwork better, huh?

Wen-M In reply to StarDragon77 [2007-04-28 04:57:18 +0000 UTC]
the first is figuring out what is bad in your art, what dont you like about it? what do you want to do better?
is it the anatomy? the fashion? the colors? the lines? or the feeling of the whole picture? (composition) =]
there might be a lot to learn, but learn what makes you happy first, learn the quick tricks first, then go for the bigger, harder lessons =]

Coudl that be done in reverse? Such as seeing what you like in others artwork and see how your own style can find a way to incorporate that in?
As an example, you're attention to extreme detail on the surface of weapons and armor. That is something I like, especially in the anima area.
But anyway, one thing I'm trying to do is make my own original comic, but seems like I'm digging a hole to china (metaphorically speaking). But I'd like to finish it so that way at the end I can look back and say, "I did that."

theres nothing wrong with just crazily drawing and drawing, that what i did. for a few years.
you get good connections with your hand and mind, which is important, if you want to be a good artist.
but to actually express things in a more accurate way, you would need to learn the skills to communicate better, visually, and those are skills you learn from schools, and tutorials, etc.

Yup, that's what I"ve learned over the semester in this Drawing 2 class that I"ve done.
Though as far as the creation of a comic/manga it is difficult since there isn't a set way of doing the paneling and such. So I've pretty much been going about it on my own.

Wen-M In reply to StarDragon77 [2007-04-28 06:28:59 +0000 UTC]
there is
you have to see the panels not by themselves, but by both pages facing each other.
you have to think about the visual flow as well. every panel should lead to the next, not just in story, but also in visual flow. like, if the character turns his face to the right, the viewer will feel like turning to the right also.
think about that more. =]

Hmmm. Yes, I can see where you're going with that. I can definately see where I was making mistakes. Working at it one page at a time instead of thinking of it in a grander scale.

i hate doing this, but, you should and most people do this.
that is to thumbnail all the panels first. no details, just ideas and big motions. plan it out =]
it may take longer, but it is a useful experience.

You mean sketch the rough idea of the panels? Yeah, I did that for this first chapter.

Hmmm you didn't make a description for this one. Correct me if I'm wrong... The green represents some sort of camaflage (I can't spell)? She can like.. use her magic or something to go in and out of being "invisible," if you will?
I dunno. Very sexy, extremely artistic.
