This got crazier than the Earth boss, and this piece pretty much made me realize that I was going overboard with detail, in a bad way.And so one of this year's resolutions is to keep the details organized @__@

Some detail has to be sacrificed for the overall idea of the image, otherwise the detail can topple over other elements that you're trying to present, such as aspects of perspective and proportion.
It's all a learning process.

Aside from the fact I couldnt tell what for what on the picture (looked like a mass of random fire pattern till my eyes adjusted to the detail)

Needs more contrast if anything. It's bright, fire-like, yes, but without some type of shadows or some darker elements it looks more like a fluorescent piece than a demon-like boss.
(That and the pink may be a little much)

That is indeed alot of detail but it works out for this piece so dont beat yourself up about it Wen. It really does look like fire. And good god Ifrit would even be like WTF PWN! XD

I'm only looking at the Fire like part, and I think that is really great. The mixture of red Maroon, and yellow Mixed with Purple is a great improvement on the picture. The color's help with the detail, I got to say it hides some of the detail greatly.

this is very good, but when you have too much detail here, it's hard to see anything. It's very distracting from the main thing, which is the face.

Yeah that is way too much detail, it clutters the whole thing and almost kills the silhouette value.
