Description
this is a 4 panel screen which Lord Kaya keeps in his collection, Lord Kaya is the master of Ayana, from the last upload. The story goes that the four mermaids showed here all became immortal, its also believed that they were not really mermaids, but just girls who lives by the water. The flower symbolized the temptation of immortality, and the way they look at the flower, reflected their response to the temptation. the story ends with the girls turning against each other, subsequently splitting the land into factions and into war.
Lord kaya treasures this a lot, one of the reason being that Cielo was supposed to be one of the mermaids, an immortal girl which he searches for.
image was done in 2006.

Aww, I really like this image. Very much reminds me of traditional oriental art...really enjoying the delicate contours of the figures

I can be proud that I understand at least... half of the characters in the upper right corner (dam, I should concentrate harder on my lessons!)

The over all composition is very well done and I especially like how each panel could potentially stand on their own with the exception of the first one (far left).

A very interesting piece and the story behind it gives it a new level of that as well.

This is gorgeous! It really looks as if it was painted on gold leaf. Does the poem on the right mean anything?

I didn't really see any Amano likeness. It looks like traditional japanese scroll arts and whatnot. Beautifully done.

hehee, well, theres a similarity. =] type of eyes and like fainted colors stuff like that. and Like i said, its a great compliment from the guy, but i want to make sure he doesnt use amano to definate japanese style, cuz that would be the opposite XD

hehehe, thanks man. i do get flattered, but I hope you understand that Amano himself derive some of his style from the traditional japanese style. I imitated that, and not his style in particular. I'm not mad about your way of compliment at all, but may be its good to clear it up, you know? =] i dont want your nice compliment to make you seem narrowed sighted in the grand scheme of styles. =]

Razio In reply to Wen-M [2011-04-24 07:10:18 +0000 UTC]
On contrary, I know Amanos style quite well and from where he drew his inspirations. And what is characteristic about his art is combination of western comic art/ Japaneese manga art and traditional woodblock prints... and all of those are here also.
Coment was not meant as critique, nor compliment, nor anything negative... it was rather an observation...
Keep the good work. Greetings from Mostar.

Wow! What a fantastic rendering. Lovely details, and the traditional screen feel. I also love how you've developed an entire story behind this screen, within your own story.
Fantastic concept and execution!

I don't see why you should put mature content. There are no nipples, neither any sexual inciting here

Fantastic backstory, and wonderful image! I can interpret the reactions of almost all the women, but what about the one second from the left, with the smile on her face?
I don't think it warrants a mature warning, myself.
