I was confused until I read the artists comments. I thought Clover was the girl, because she's the center of attention! It seems like the focus is on her and not on Clover himself. If he was centered on the picture, the focus would be on him, making Clover the center of attention and not Bridget.
That said, killer coach design. That is totally awesome

Not exactly... According to painting theory, the best spot to place your focus isn't in the center of the piece, In fact they recommend you to work with secondary focal points to suggest the watchers to look the entire piece together. The more your eyes move around the piece, the more interesting (they say) the piece can be, as your watcher will see more than just the first plain figure in the middle.

Oh, she surely does call out attention ( I swear it has nothing to with her tiny skirt and long slender legs... well, not entirely at least) . For me, the only thing that kept me from completely ignoring the mister clover was his otherwordly green coat. I'm just guessing here, but I believe some ambiental light would change that. For exemple, if this piece was done in the sunset light, the colors would be completely different, and warmer and cooler colors would match smothly.
