An artist can never technically be perfect. And often an artist that reaches technical perfection loses the passion and the soul for it... then once again rendering it imperfect.
Yes, you probably do have a long way to go. An artist can always improve. In this case, some of the details are just clicky enough that it makes it odd to look at this picture. While that confirms that it's an eye capture... it also confirms that it still needs work.
And that, is that.

What inspires you to make pieces as creative and original as this one? Where does your creativity come from? Seriously, I'm sure we would all love to know

I like it... The reaper puppet looks great, and very creepy. Even the master has that sinister look, which I think the eye shadow really helped in making her look more evil that she might have without it. lol I am curious about the large cross or control bar object behind the reaper... What is it? Oh, nevermind... I see it coming through the front of the reaper now. lol

Whoa! I really like all the detail in this picture. It didn't really pick up on it until I looked at the wallpaper. I didn't notice the necklace on the puppet master until I did that. Very pretty. This is great work!

The grim reaper looks very cool and the concept of having him puppeteered is also very well done, especially being as they're on a chessboard like floor... however the woman controling him/it looks quite out of proportion. Specifically within the legs and hips region.

Well... yes. The arms, torse, neck, face are all fine... the hands are masterfuly done, the legs themselves are done quite well as well. But It's really mainly the hips that I'm refering too. There is no woman in the world with a gap like that between the legs. Her right leg looks dislocated. I'm just offering positive criticism. Take it as you will.

ppl are over exaggerating the hips.
its 100% fine. its obsessively not where the criticism is going to help.

HAHAHA! Oh, I love you simple minded fanboi's and fangurlz.
You always amuse me with your lack of understanding. Any criticism is generally... one way or the other going to help.
A further critique would say that the room is too empty to warrant such energy, the woman is far too flat and emotionless, and overcompensates for the extreme energy in the puppet. Her foot is in a strange allignment with the other foot. I can SEE the pixels decorating the scythe. The strings to the right of the image create confusion, the bottom tip of the cross sticking through the reaper does not align with the rest of the cross. Elements to the cloak look strong while other sections come across as though they're stuck on wet pieces of paper coloured in fading ink.
Once again, I can see the pixels on her necklace. The right foot of the grim repear looks like a puddle of mud... which is not an enhancing feature in this respect.
The woman's cloak is not symetrical with itself. And the perspective on the scythe itself makes it look bent in the middle.
This picture is full of so many flaws it is ridiculous.
In any event it is a good piece, is artistically done and of a higher skill level of which I could do in that medium. But I would not call this image by any means 100% fine.
Honestly, the only real advice I could give to the artist would be that more attention to detail is needed. Not the details as in patterns or the designs, but rather the flaws within the patterns and designs.
All in all a good image. But far from perfect.

Perfect is only a relavent term, whats perfect for u might be shity for oders.

the point is everything is flawed, the Mona Lisa and the Pupper Master really are on the same level in art, not in skill but defiantly in art
ART IS RELEVANT

Well, I guess I wasn't being very clear.
I, myself has been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It's just common sense.

Lovely. really lovely. Although I'm a bit put off by the background. It's not so much as I don't like the setting as much as that it's quite too... static. I mean there's nothing there to look at. No people, no furniture, nothing that even reacts to the characters in the foreground. Heck even the two characters are 'ignoring' each other. Then again, it also helps put more attention to the details of the characters.
I just feel that it would be cool if there were something like cracks on the floor where the Reaper was standing or even scratches where the claws of his(?) feet would supposedly scrape by as he slid. Anything to make them feel more 'real'.
Again awesome work.

forget the girl , the posing of the death warrior is awesome , if it was without the chick and with lava and smoke in the background it would be epic.
Again this is my opinion , and everybody has his own

thanks , and to be honest , its the first time i see someone drawing a scythe attack so accurate , usually other drawings have the scythe holder standing still , which make the weapon part of the costume and not a weapon

BassOvercast In reply to Void-SPIRIT [2009-11-22 05:20:32 +0000 UTC]
Scythe is actually made for reaping... a harvest. Therefore the symbology in the name Grim Reaper. The scythe was never intended to be a weapon.

Void-SPIRIT In reply to BassOvercast [2009-11-22 20:46:48 +0000 UTC]
I disagree on that ,most of the harvesting tools are weapons , look at the machete .
On the other hand we have the Mantis , his hands are exactly like a scythe and he uses em as weapons , to kill preys ,therefore its a killing tool.
But i agree on the reaping role.
