The Night RiderFirst light of day arrives, once more she must disappear; "Will she ride the night again?" Is always a fearThat is put to rest like those who lament the night,For how can they sleep when not a thing feels right?Somehow the answer rides along like she doesWith no explanation coming besides just because;Folks have reasons why her magic might be so,But come dawn there ain't one that for sure knows. Some believe it's the hooves of her dear horse,Starting fast like hearts taking on an obstacle courseThen finding the clearing and slowing, aiming forThe field of dreams where their only job is to snore. Others watch her hair move like an angel's wing,Whispers of the wind calling "don't worry 'bout a thing,What comes tomorrow can't be tougher than you"And start telling themselves it's gotta be true. It could be the moonlight seeming to follow alongAs she kicks up a cloud of sand, her horse so strongAnd shining like it was the one sent from aboveBut that, too, is a total mystery my love. All I know is the night rider led me to youWhen I was all alone without a single clue;I followed that glistening horse until I saw you rise from the other side of the hill.And while we plummeted into each other's eyes,There went the night rider into the sunrise.I bet the next night another funny little taleCame to be 'cause she helped it set sail....
