EDIT: PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING [link]This is in no way an attack on Alicorns, or people who have Alicorn characters. This is merely an attempt at a fun way to explain why having wings and a horn is considered an overpowered trait in the MLP fandom. I realise that it is possible to have an interesting and well developed Alicorn character.
If you're at all part of the My Little Pony OC fandom you will know that there is a certain stigma attached to OC Alicorns (a pony with both a unicorn horn and pegasus wings). It has come to my attention that some of the people who create alicorn OC's are unaware of why they are so frowned upon. So I made this little chart to explain.
Under each pony type are the traits associated with the type [link] . Not every pony will fit perfectly into their type, but these are the basic guidelines.
Alicorns are considered godlike because the alicorns on the show are generally very powerful, with abilities such as raising the sun and moon, and creating love. Alicorns are also the rarest type of pony, with only a few appearing in the show.
So basically creating an alicorn is creating a super amazing rare powerful beautiful being, which is frowned upon in most OC fandoms. No matter how carefully designed, or well developed an alicorn character is, it often won't be taken seriously amongst the fandom upon first glance.
If you want a pony character like this, then go ahead. It's just considered to be the equivalent of Superman in the world of superheroes. Very overpowered and less flawed than others.

I don't beleve that Pegasi have weaker bodies just look at RD she crashes into stuff all the time and is fine (eg. in spike at your service she crashes into a giant pillar of rocks and gets right back up afterwords)Β

I agree... you got alicorn ponies spot-on. However, to me it feels like there's a lot more diversity in earth ponies than just strength, speed, and closeness with the earth (just look at how different AJ, Pinkie, and Coco Pommel are from each other.)

I think it comes from the idea that they are likely lighter and more agile to help them fly better. You know, with the exception of Snowflake. Lol

Oh.....I didn't know that having an alicorn OC would bother people so much ;-; now I'm sad.... I just did mine as an alicorn because I feel as if in real life I have potential to be/do something great, but I still have no idea what, so I left my alicorn with a probably permanent blank flank.

you can do something great! honestly twilight became an alicorn! if you want to make your oc an alicorn like that its perfectly ok! if theyre born an alicorn; parts of equestria are still undiscovered, so others could still be out there guarding things such as the plants and animals! theyre like spirits!

Here's a question, would it be considered an mary sue move to create an non-princess Β alicorn who, thought born with a horn, was in fact born without the immortality the royal pony sisters have and due to still there back then racism between ponies,before the creation of Equestria, a war before the windigos, had a majority of her horn ripped/cut off by those in the war and if she/he tries to do magic she bleeds heavily or can only to in small amounts like basic levitation?

Short answer, yes.
Long answer, most likely. It's exceedingly difficult to create an alicorn character who isn't considered a Mary Sue by the majority of those who view it, at least outside Deviantart. From a writer's point of view, creating a character based on such a concept immediately puts them in the pit of 'special snowflake' and they must therefore crawl out of it with good characterisation and original ideas. If you want to go further, then I'd mention the fact that context is everything, and the situation must demand or work well with an alicorn character rather than creating a situation to justify one. What you've described is a justification for a character rather than a character themselves. If you first describe their origin story or abilities when introducing the character to others, then chances are you haven't created a good character.
As a personal OC it's a very bad idea. Unless you're with a group that has an approval for special snowflake characters, then by all means; in the end, though, most others won't take them seriously, for good reason.
If you want characters, think of a character before you think of their aesthetics.

Here's another question, would people consider my oc an alicorn pony if she is a techy unicorn specializing in magic(the kind that is found in all ponies) powered wings? Β they are basically the mechanical and mystical looking fake wings you seen on my little pony oc creator game sites that she make Β for disabled pegasi who suffered amputated wings and anypony who wants to be a pegasus or alicorn.

That would actually depend entirely on the setting. I suppose a pony with those wings would not be considered an 'alicorn' as they aren't naturally born like that, but in current version of Equestria as we know it, that kind of technology isn't quite fitting. However, as a character in a version of the setting (perhaps a more high-fantasy RP setting), that wouldn't make them a Sue.
Having mechanical wings 'just because' would lend them more closely to being a Sue, but you've actually described a decent motivation behind the creation of the technology. It ends up depending on the setting, but that idea is far off directly becoming a Mary Sue.

I personally prefer Earth Ponies, and it pisses me off a little that there are so few people who appreciate them, especially since they have the most long term importance. Growing up without using magic or wings and still being the most prolific, prosperous and resourceful out of the three main types means that they're basically normal in a world where others can fly and perform feats of magic, and they still meet or exceed them through blunt force of stubborn willpower and strength of character. Which is incredibly badass.

I think only Celestia, Luna, and any alicorns before them are godlike, and are pure alicorns. The modern is like a normal pony, just a mix of Pegasus and Unicorn, although an artificial alicorn (twilight, cadence) becomes royal, and is made an alicorn by Celestia by doing the greater good using a powerful source, ex. love, friendship. Or at least that's my headcanon.

Not sure whether all alicorns are godlike.Β Maybe they realized an enlightenment, but...Cadence and Twilight are still pretty young.Β They're also vulnerable...not even Celestia could outpower Chrysalis.
