i have to agree with Bob on this one. Axol created the pen in the first place to create anime art. But Francis stole and was responsible of the kidnapping of many inklings and possible octolings and the murder of Desti. But he wasnt the only guilty one, Axol was part of this involvement too

That is what I did with him in a story I am writing right now (Itβs essentially a Splatfest Arc, but because I started writing it before the release of World War Mario, a bunch of things do not mesh with the canon, so I would describe it more as an alternate timeline- After all, being made before World War Mario, a central plot point of this fan fiction is that Meggy is dead, and she ultimately didnβt die, like everybody thought she would between Mario and the Experiment and World War Mario. Plus, Desti is alive and plays a major role in the story, and we all know what happened to her). Axol blames himself for everything that occurred (To the point Luigi, Saiko, and Fishy Boopkins were all sent to live with him for a while before the story begins just to reliably stop him from committing suicide), and now never lets the Ink Weaver out of his sight.

Perhaps he will break it for good or make one that can only work by his fingers alone or those with a pure heart. I think after what happened, Axol doesn't want a slimeball similar to Francois to get a grip on its power. Who knows.
