Another Yugioh fanart, this time with Odion, Ishizu and Marik's mother Mrs. Ishtar, who I name Aziza. This picture is based off of a headcanon I thought of that explains Marik's Yami and how it manifested in him without an item. While some would say he developed a second personality to protect him and it got worse from the items, I think otherwise and it has something to do with the clans of Egypt, as well as the Egyptian Gods themselves.

Headcanon: In the clans of Egypt, not only are they secret and guard the Pharaoh's tombs and the items, these clans also worship a certain God. With the Ishtar clan, they worship Ra, the King of the Egyptian gods and are basically the highest clan of all because Pharaoh Tut became Ra after his death. That is why Mr. Ishtar was so stubborn and refused to let another clan look after the Items as Mr. Ishtar considered his clan more superior and that the Ishtars must guard the items as they would be close to royalty and believed when the Pharaoh returns, he would find favor in his glory.

With Aziza's clan, she came from a clan that worshipped Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of protection and retribution. Mr. Ishtar married Aziza as he believed that with her heritage and the fact Sekhmet protected the Pharaoh in war and sought vengeance for him when wronged, the Items would be more protected as the Goddess would make certain that whoever dared tried to take them would face serious consequences. However, what he didn't know is that Sekhmet did not like Mr. Ishtar for his arrogance and how he acted towards her disciple and her children, especially when Aziza died in childbirth and he was to busy proclaiming his heir.

Then when Marik's back was carved, the lion Goddess's wrath started to manifest in Marik, while he was born in the clan of Ra, he was still the child of a lioness and his bloodlust steadily grew as Marik's Yami was getting worse from Mr. Ishtar's cruel treatment. A year later, when Mr. Ishtar tried to kill Odion and attack Marik and Ishizu for heading to the outside, his Yami was unleashed, but it wasn't like any Yami, it was a Yami born from the wrath of a boy who had the blood of Sekhmet in him, and he took revenge on the man who carved his back and punished him for the years of abuse he bestoded on him and his siblings.

Not only was Mr. Ishtar killed by his own son, he envoked the wrath of a God upon him.

And when Shadi told him it was the Pharaoh who caused his family's suffering, like Sekhmet, Marik wanted the Pharaoh dead and for the world to be covered in blood and enjoyed torturing those around him.

On the left of Mrs. Ishtar it says himayatan, which means protection in Arabic, and on her right it says antiqam, which means vengeance. The words of her clan which proved true in her son.

Mrs. Ishtar and Yugioh belong to Kazuki Takahashi.
