looks good, but i don't see any reason why separate status imges etc make any difference on the end working interface
Personally i mainly use non separated standby, so as i can place all my layers on that one, thus giving me a wider space to edit and and add better details, as there are no constraints to bar size etc 
but thats just me

Very nice work.
I like the fact that you now use the separate softkey/statusbar in the standby. But I can't seem to find any softkey press as you mention.
