I have not tried to make a ship in a while, so it was fun to create this to a friends specifications.There are no colors or textures yet as this will be a time consuming and tedious project, which I intend to take a break from for a bit.
It is conceptually similar to H-Class Battleships of Germany during World War 2, being very large ships with resemblance to Bismarck.
As such, most of the ship aesthetics were based heavily on Bismarck/German capital ships, with concepts and details borrowed from several other places
such as:
Italian (torpedo belt similar to Roma) hullform
American AA
Japanese torpedo tubes
British Aircraft arrangements
British naming Convention (Lettered class with all ships in class starting with the same letter. 2 ships in class, Stolz and Starke)
Generally speaking, the goal was to create a ship with the extraordinary armament specified but still keeping the aesthetic and "plausible" size of a WW2 ship.
The ship is 353.5m long with a beam of 42m and draft of 11.5m. the ship displaces about 102000 metric tons. Top speed is probably 28-30 knots or so.
Main armament of 520mm, secondaries of 406mm, DP of 128mm, AA of 40mm and 20mm. Equipped with 12 61cm torpedo tubes.
All components and geometry were modeled by me, based on images found online. No precise technical drawings were used in order to distance the ship slightly from real-world weaponry.
A separate Blueprint/Line Drawing was made but could not fit on a reasonably sized raster image.
More detail views have been uploaded to my scraps since the whole thing is still a work in progress.
Everything was modeled in Rhino 6 and rendered with Flamingo nxt 5.5
