Animal testing has been going on for years. It has been going on for years, and with no law against it. Animal testing, which at times ends up with the mass killing of animals, is legal. Completely, and utterly legal.
Though laws have been set to ensure the animals feel no pain, not all labs follow these laws. Sometimes, labs will even go as far as to open up an animal without using anything at all to numb the pain the animal is sure to be feeling. In other words, they give the animal surgery while they are AWAKE, and without ANY painkillers. How much sicker can you get?
So, how do you solve the problem? Simple, you get rid of it all together. There are other options in this modern day, options that will produce the same effects. If you are against inhumane animal testing as well, *put this in your DA journal. (Use :thumb83120002: )

Goodness, how DUMB are us humans now?
Testing shit on animals its so dumb
If It DOES work on animals, how will that mean it will work on humans?
Its Just stupid.
I agree with you

You say stop testing animals, but I don't see you lined up at the door to take their place.
Humans are more important than rats. If a few thousand rats have to die so we can find a cure for cancer, so be it.

Experimental animal testing is an extremely necisary practice. It's not the 80s any more like when movies such as Plague dogs came out. experiments are not like that any more. And animals do not functinon like disney characters. They aren't sophisticated. They aren't capible of deep intelligance. Some animals can bond and have relationshipts, however, this does not make them sophisticated. Monkeys, arguably, are differant to a digree. However, their anatomy being so similar to ours means that it is the best idea. Animal testing is NOT just mindless torture of animals. It is for medical research. Think of people dieing from cancer, children with chronic and incurable diseases, AIDS, paralisis, tumers, diabedis, and other diseases. Saying medical testing on animals is unnecisary is very wrong, and in my opinion, very ignorant.
ps: I'm not mad at you, and I'm sorry for all the typos. My computer lags. And these express my opinions. They aren't being said as facts.

RetroRodent In reply to Echofeather [2015-12-16 10:34:55 +0000 UTC]
Obviously -you- aren't capable of intelligence.
And sophistication is bullshit, as is the human standard of intelligence. By your logic then, any living organism you seem as unintelligent deserves to suffer. There are different kinds of intelligence. There are very low IQ people who are still kind.
But the real idiots are the hypocrites who lack compassion.
Also you can't even spell half the diseases you listed. And yet you put down animals for not being capAble [ ] of deep intelligEnce.
You're so sad it's amusing. Have fun in hell.

Hate to say it, but your little statistic about "animals being opened without any painkillers" is a dead lie.
I'm in medicine. I hate testing on animals, but I see all the good that has come from it. And you know what? We take great pains to make sure even the deaths of fruit flies we test on is painless. We take tests, submit reports. If anyone abuses their equipment or experimenting rights they are fired immediately.
I do not, under any conditions, condone animal testing for materialistic purposes such as makeup, food, etc. But I do support it for things such as medical research. Vaccines, antibiotics, open heart surgery, stem cells...all of this has come from animal research. We need it, whether some people like it or not.
Here is a link to my lab. [link] Some of the links on the left side of the page cannot be accessed without an ID & Password, but please feel free to browse what is available. You'll notice we work with programs such as IACUC, which monitors each and every experiment we perform. Please, I'm saying this not only to defend my opinion, but to show that there are labs and scientists who care about animal rights just as much as you do, and who take every effort to ensure that animal research is not abused.

I've figured out a few days ago that the Mars company does animal testing and the candies they make are:Snicker, Mars, Starburst, M&M's, The Three Musketeers, Skittles.
Here's what they do:
Mars recently funded an experiment on rats at the University of California, San Francisco, to determine the effect of chocolate ingredients on the animals' blood vessels, even though the experimenter admitted that studies have already been done using humans. Experimenters force-fed the rats by shoving plastic tubes down their throats and then cut open the rats' legs to expose an artery, which was clamped shut to block blood flow. After the experiment, the animals were killed.
Mars funded a deadly experiment on mice that was published in a 2007 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience in which mice were fed flavanols (phytochemicals that are found in chocolate) and forced to swim in a pool of water mixed with white paint to hide a submerged platform, which the mice had to find in order to avoid drowning, only to be killed and dissected later on.
In one experiment supported by Mars and conducted by the current Mars, Inc., endowed chair in developmental nutrition at the University of California, Davis, rats were fed cocoa and anesthesized with carbon dioxide so that blood could be collected by a needle injected directly into the heartβa procedure criticized by U.S. Department of Agriculture researcher Dr. William T. Golde, who notes: βThis is not a simple method. β¦ Missing the heart or passing the needle completely through the heart could lead to undetected internal bleeding or other complications.β
Mars supported a cruel experiment to learn how a chocolate ingredient called PQQ affects metabolism by cramming baby mice into 200-milliliter Plexiglas metabolic chambersβaround half the size of a 12-ounce soda canβand then submerging the chamber for nearly five hours in a chilled water bath, inducing labored breathing in the distressed mice. Experimenters then shoved tubes down the miceβs throats every day for 10 days to force-feed them the PQQ, after which they were killed and cut up for analysis.
Mars funded a test in which experimenters forced rabbits to eat a high-cholesterol diet with varying amounts of cocoa, then cut out and examined tissue from the rabbits' primary blood vessel to the heart to determine the effect of cocoa on rabbitsβ muscle tissue.
Mars supported a test in which experimenters attached plastic tubes to arteries in guinea pigs' necks and injected cocoa ingredients into their jugular veins to examine the effect of cocoa ingredients on their blood pressure.
so if you care stop eating their candy and to get proof go to [link] and if you have the guts then watch the video

π: 0 β©: 1
Boss-Kaz-009 In reply to WorryStoneKey [2009-11-23 22:48:09 +0000 UTC]
They aren't warped. Not all of them. The ones who are trying to find cures for cancer and those who test on animals to prevent horrific side affects on humans are doing nothing wrong.
Have you ever heard of a drug called thalidomide? Pregnant women used it in the 1960's to treat morning sickness.
They never tested it on pregnant animals or humans. If they had then they would have known that the drug caused severe deformities in unborn fetuses.
That is why it is necessary, it helps prevent things such as this happening again and if you think that it is better for people to suffer in pain and their children suffer from deformities because of drugs that weren't tested on animals beforehand then you are just as warped as you claim these scientists to be.
I admit it is hard to accept that it isn't barbaric and wrong and evil. Just imagining anything like that being done to my cat makes me feel sick, but not all animal testing is about cutting animals open and looking to see what some chemical did to it's guts.
Sometimes it's seeing if a chemical can cure an animal as well as a human of something.
Animal testing benefits the animals too.

No it doesn't, and I support animal testing which doesn't hurt the animals, and maybe that which does only if it is vital for the advance in medical science. Besides, the animals are treated well enough by the scientists, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to keep them.
But hey you know you could always volunteer to have these drugs tested on you first before the animals if you want?
