Its that time of year again - when all throughout the land the scribbling of industrious artists, busy creating christmas cards, was to be heard...And here is my annual contribution! Dedicated to all santa's (not so little) helpers, who make Christmas such a magical time for the little ones.
This is ever so slightly more painterly than my usual style, and I shall probably revise it in a few days' time once I've spotted a few of the worst anatomical misrepresentations in there.

This really is an amazing work. I think your right...it needs just a bit of touching up...but really not much. Any touch ups would be because of obsessive note to detail. But I love how you've captured the childhood anticipation for Christmas. It even apears that the child is sleeping on a pillow of stars. It makes me think that he's half way between a child's wish to see santa, and in the midst of sparkling dreams. Very nicely done.

great job creating variations in texture here...the perspective with the room background seems a bit odd to me, but I suppose what's most important is the atmosphere & feeling of the piece, which I think you've nailed.
What were your thoughts on lighting? The bottom reads beautifully as nighttime, but it looks like morning above the boy's face. Just interested in your thought process with that

When I saw this on the front page as a DD, I smiled -- inside and out. My holiday spirit has been on average in the past week, but this really perked me up. The atmosphere and everything -- wonderful. I'm not confident in my crits, nor do I feel I'm up to skill level to crit this piece, so I'll leave that to someone else. But... thank you -so much- for invoking Christmas cheer.
