Cala, the lifemate of Isibar, Xerx's cousin (who had a brief cameo at the end of our first WSS book, for those of you who have read it), has enjoyed her home life on An'Re'Hara after many years of drifting from one planet to another, serving as a guide for many pleasure seekers and adventurers. She and her lifemate have 15 children with one on the way. Here she is, consoling her youngest after he learns that he will soon no longer be the one who gets the lion's share of attention.

"Soon, my treasure, you will have a big responsibility. You'll have a younger brother or sister to look after, like your older sister looked after you. But that doesn't mean that mommy and daddy don't love you any less."
