Description Idependent itinerant traders (called "space hippies" or "space gypsies" by inhabitants of the colony worlds) are a mainstay of society both in the Alliance and Imperium, and a social group that even Imperial Law tends to overlook due to the prevalence of Felyan representatives among their ranks.

These groups, consisting of around eight to ten extended families, are completely self-sufficient, designing their own clothes and growing their own food (some of the larger ships even house livestock).  They move in spaceships cobbled together from pieces of other ships, some having been in these families since the end of the Imperium Wars, trade for raw materials with the various colony worlds, and learn their own trade skills in using the raw materials to create tools, clothes, and machines that they sell in market squares planetside and in orbital habitats.  These groups consist of humans and Felyans, often lifemates, as well as their varied children.

Itinerant families keep in close touch, and hold congregational meet-ups twice a year to trade goods and services, make executive decisions, trade stories, and hold weddings (or declare lifemates), as well as matchmaking children who are of age.  These are usually festive occasions, and have attracted many to their lifestyle., some having found themselves homeless for one reason or another, and with nowhere else to go. Some find a home with these families who take them in, and live their lives as part of the family, while others, for whatever reason, choose to leave.  These are allowed to come and go as they please, and no resentment is held.  Kindness and personal honor are held in high regard, as keeping the trust of clients, both current and potential, is priority one.

There is a high prevalence of hybrid children in these groups, due to their very liberal attitudes of human-Felyan relationships, and though they differ from the more organized and purely Felyan itinerant traders, the Felyan Empire keeps close track of these spacefaring families, whom they deem under their protection.  Still, they do suffer occasional harassment by local authorities on worlds less friendly to "interspecies miscegenation," but they rarely interact with these worlds or holdings, unless desperate for certain resources, or lacking any other options for occasional assistance.

The pic is of a small part of one such trade group, with the family heads, and their children and friends whom have joined in their lifestyle.
