Description This is the same kind of railroad crossing signal has this one willm3luvtrains.deviantart.com… only the L.E.D.s on the crossbuck blink for only 0.2 seconds every 0.8 seconds.

I decided to make this after some recent trips and seeing other signs with lights flashing at this speed. And believe you me this was very complicated. Before I could make a full-video like gif (video is my best way to describe it,) I had to do a test gif, starting with the signal completely in the "NO TRAIN IS COMING" position. I wanted the sign L.E.D.s to flash faster. I started with 0.1 seconds but that seemed too rapid, so I made it 0.2 seconds and that's what I'm going with.

Now this was the really hard part, getting the red L.E.D. lights on the crossbuck to flash fast but keep the regular railroad crossing signal lights we all know and love flashing at normal speed, which is 1 full second or 1.0 seconds. But this was very complicated. Now I wanted the red L.E.D.s to flash at the same speed as the white L.E.D.s. I made the red L.E.D.s 0.2 seconds of illumination.

And in flashing the red L.E.D.s along with the regular red flashers we all know and love, and to transition from "NO TRAIN IS COMING" to "TRAIN IS COMING," I made the signal lights start flashing for 0.2 seconds, then make the crossbuck flash for 0.2 seconds, equaling 0.4 seconds, and then to keep the flasher lights flashing at normal speed, I turned the crossbuck L.E.D.s off for 0.6 seconds. And I had to repeat the pattern for the opposing flasher light.

In a nutshell, when making the lights flash, I had to follow this pattern: 0.2, 0.2, 0.6, 0.2, 0.2, 0.6, 0.2, 0.2, 0.6, etc.

Whew! Don't expect me to do a lot of artwork of/like this! And if you want to try this yourself, "Have lots of fun doing so!" (my way of saying "I wish you a lot of luck," only I don't believe in luck!)

This kind of crossing signal can also be used with gates and the gate lights will flash like normal with the signal lights (light at the tip of the gate steady and the other two lights flash along with the signal flasher lights.)

On an unrelated note, now I kind of have an idea of how I want to do strobe lights and I'm considering making fire alarms with strobe lights (which will only flash, not sound.) And maybe strobe lights on traffic signals, which operate when fire trucks and ambulances with their lights flashing are approaching the intersection.
