On that note, just because Bill may resemble symbols with various connotations, doesn't automatically represent evil. Gravity Falls itself is a subtle satire of many things, like Disney itself with the references to Gideonland, or the way it parodies infomercials. Bill may be just another aspect of this.

Yeah, unfortunately the people on the Internet has a tendency to spread misinformation at an incredibly rapid pace, and people are quick to believe it, which is why it's also good to double check your sources and make sure you're getting your information from the proper places.
As for why people like Bill, some simply like his chaotic personality and think it's a good addition to an already mystical show, others like the whole dark magic thing, others find that his design is almost satirical of the Illuminati and find it amusing; there are a lot of reasons why he appeals to the audience, it's all subjective.

He is a focal point for the entire series, everything so far has been leading up to this character's reveal, the cypher codes during the credits, and not to mention that he appears everywhere throughout the entire series, books windows wall paper cups, money, he is everywhere, I think its safe to say that this guy is gunna play a huge role in the story.
