Description A usual day in D.C.
Nikki, my character in Fallout 3, and her faithful bodyguard Charon are doing what they do best - shooting some Supermutants.

Lost count how many hours I spent on this one, and it's still not even nearly as good as I wanted it to be, But I figured that if I keep working on it, I'd never make another picture. So it's finished. For now. Until the next level up of my drawing skills

No more outdoors backgrounds for a while. They drive me crazy! Back to simpler things.

Charon and Fallout (c) Bethesda
Nikki and art (c) me, Windfreak

wow, epic pick, awesome detail, and my second favourite ally too. Fawkes is the top ally for that game in my opinion, he is just so dang tough.

Thanks.
I used Fawkes during my first walkthrough, but got tired of him - he stole most of my kills and always blocked the doors, I even had to reload sometimes 'coz I was stuck in a tiny cellar and Fawkes blocked the only exit.
Charon is more fun Who else would shoot at the dead bodies to make sure they are dead?

yeah, but if it is just an all out brawl, fawkes will win hands down. whith his laser gatling gun and my vengence laser gatling gun, the body (and ash) count is quite high.

Wow! Just, omg wow. From a small view I thought 'Oh so she screen capped the background then.' Nope, I was very very wrong! D:

But wholy figs this is amazing, the hours put into it show for sure! I love how the bullet is deflected off of Charon's armor too. Makes sense when it comes down to how many hits they guy can take XD

Yeah. That background took the most part of those 20 or 30 hours
The bullet doesn't look too realistic, but that's the better I could do. I also wanted to draw traces of flying bullets, that missed them, but it didn't look good either.

Holy shit the details in this are just awesome! I love every little detail from the platter of blood on her face (and how realistic it looks) to the shell casings popping out of the guns to the background making me think it was an actual screen shot at first.

This picture is made of win, and you madam, are amazing.

Actual screenshot, huh? Yeah, that what I would've done a year ago - put a screenshot there and apply a filter to it to make it look like it was drawn by hand. But not now, I'm an artist after all, and I can draw anything I want, even if it drives me crazy.

I can’t believe you’re not entirely happy with this, it’s incredible! Nikki is awesome and I adore how you draw Charon. He’s perfect. I really enjoy all the little details, like the bullet bouncing off of Charon’s armor, the wounds on both of them, and her Pip-Boy (which for some reason, most people forget to draw in Fallout artwork!). Things like that really bring the art to life, and I also love the way you’ve drawn DC with the bodies in the background, the deteriorating capitol building and the sign on the museum. Absolutely amazing work, you should be proud!

I am proud But my perfectionism keeps telling me that it should've been even better if I tried hard enough. I know the details are always interesting to study on the pictures of other artists, but lately I discovered that it's fun to draw them as well.

That would definitely make for an awesome background.

I know you said you weren't happy with it, but damn you did amazing on the details and coloring

Thanks.

I quite happy with it actually - it's my best picture so far after all. I just know I could've done better if I worked on it more.

As always, the attention to detail is startlingly brilliant. I dig the mutie corpses, the pip boy , the muesem of technology sign and statues, Nikki's teeth and hair, the holes in the concrete and the guns~

Dude, this is hot. Fantastic rendering of ghoul skin (or lack thereof), VERY fallout feel! Man this is awesome.

Ghoul skin was easy, I've drawn it before. The rest, however, was more challenging.

Well the result is awesome. Turn off your self-censorship brain centers, srsly.

Windfreak In reply to lekosis [2009-12-17 07:28:16 +0000 UTC]

No way. They aren't self-censorship centers, but rather self-perfection. I just know I could do better if I tried, and that's what keeps me trying to improve my artwork. Half a year ago I wouldn't even dare to draw something so difficult.

lekosis In reply to Windfreak [2009-12-17 14:51:01 +0000 UTC]

That's a pretty good way of looking at things. I've got friends who kill their self esteem for no reason every time they produce a piece of artwork. The way I see it, if you can TELL what sucks about it, that right there is a step in the right direction, no? XD
