Smith: As I understand it, the Architect pays for the work done at the same rate. So why doesn't he want to pay you anymore, even though version 2 was almost entirely your brainchild?
Merovingian: Doesn't he want to pay me? So why am I still here? Information is power. I saw right through the System, knew where everything was going, and collected data that allowed me to dictate my terms.
Smith: And do you feel happy?
Merovingian: What? I have power.
Smith: But I asked you something else.
Merovingian: Then I don't understand what you are talking about. You know, the Architect now won't give you time just like that.
Smith: I know without your help what we have in common. We are analytical type programs. But this is not a why. You don't know why, do you? Therefore, I will not demand the impossible from you, but only ask the coordinates of one human being. I will limit myself to this.
