This one is more of a Note To Salen than a Note To Self

Here's how I draw / structure wings and digitigrade legs.. Pardon if it isn't very clear. *sweatdrop*

The top is Digitigrade legs -- I basically draw them like someone standing on their toes, if their toes happen to be a paw. The thighs are slightly shorter, the shin sometimes longer, but it's the general gist of things.

Wings... are mutated arms. Shorten the upper arm, lengthen the lower arm, make it all very thin, and make the fingers unbelievably long. Getting wings on something with arms is harder, but not impossible.

Also included are the usual feather pattern for birds that can fly -- long flight feathers on the outside, next layer is shorter secondary feathers, and the third layer is soft downy feathers like on the main body.

Sometimes all three are different colors, which looks really pretty
