Description 1. Print line art on water color paper.
2. Used masking fluid to leave 'stars' and TARDIS white.
3. Did a simple dry to paint wash with 2 deep blue colors and one dark red.
4. Used Nail polish remover and paper towel while it was still damp to get effects then threw on salt and malt-o-meal.
5. Added another layer of paint to the dry paint an hour later.
6. Dabbed away some of the darker bits to make it transition better and removed masking fluid from the stars.
7. removed TARDIS area masking fluid.
8. Started detailing. Textured with salt and paper towel.
9. More details.
10. Used white paint to cover up some bad mistakes. threw on masking fluid to areas I liked how they were.
11. Did a base color wash with several blues, added salt for texturing.
12. Removed masking fluid and detailed some more adding highlights, shadows and lines again.

After that I edited the colors to get the more like there were in real life and viola finished painting. Hope these steps help someone in their watercolor experiments! You can find the finished piece here: [link]
