I'll write a song!
It won't take long.
How hard can it be?
It's nothing to me.
                                        I'll write from my heart,
                                        Write something I know.
                                        Make the perfect part
                                        For tomorrow's big show.
A love song, perhaps
Or something more fun.
It's got to have rhythm.
I'll squeeze in a pun.
                                        I don't need to write it,
                                        It should just write itself.
                                        My song will be a huge hit.
                                        Seen on each record shelf.
I'll give my song power,
A message or two.
It won't take an hour
Before I am through.
                                        Now I'm ready to write
                                        Pen and paper in hand
                                        The song will take flight
                                        When played by the band.
I put paper to ink,
Preparing my song.
I pause just to think,
But something is wrong!
                                        I furrow my brow
                                        And begin to scowl.
                                        How'd this happen? How?
                                        I'm ready to howl.
I take paper from ink.
And ponder my plight.
My heart starts to sink.
