Description
Here I am, staring intothe blackness behind my eyelids,
a primal nothing.
Now I am falling away
from nothing
and as nothing gets farther from me
I see that it is encircled
by a lapis blaze
that scorches the void.
Flickering without moving
the frozen flame bars the abyss
from slipping out to gorge
on an ocean of milk.
Though my eye does not close, I blink
and my mind adjusts the image.
Massive converts to miniature
everything fits on a grain of sand.
Now here I am, staring into
the pit of an unlidded eye
a judgement
glaring back at me.
The sclera, milky and clear,
covered in rime,
yet something swims
just beneath the surface.
The chalybeous iris,
blazes disdain at me
its intensity scorches my heart
and yet chills
the blood even in my arteries
until the coal pit
draws my attention to it alone
the gelid pool of emotion pulls me
deep into its emptiness.
Here, I am staring
into the primal nothing
behind my eyelids.
