Description I look over the world beneath my feet.
Mile after mile slithers past as I soar.
Below me, the land dives away into wooded valleys
split by rivers or roads or both,
punctuated by lone peaks and long ranges.

I swat at the clouds teasing my ears
like moths dancing around a fire in the dark--
in the deep night where all things are kept secret
and the only world there is is torn from blackness
by flame alone.

I breathe the air, thin and cool
drinking the heady atmosphere
that chills and relaxes and refreshes.
Scents drift to me from miles away
becoming entangled in the nets of my nostrils
to mix their bounty into perfume.

I watch as life moves on below my perch
where beasts and birds and stranger things bustle
around in their own little worlds.
They do not see me, I wonder that they see each other.
I -- I see them all, see them rush around,
see them take their own worlds with them.
They are all a part of my world beneath my feet.
And I am not of theirs.
