Description
It's a bit late, but in tangent with the Fourth of July celebrations, I thought I'd show off this new flag design I created for the US. As states get added, more stars are added to the canton: with there being a potential additional five more states. But if that strains the visibility of the stars, what then? This here is an alternative.
The design does away with representing states entirely. It only represents the date of the Declaration of Independence, 4th of July 1776. And here's how.
There are four red stars in the canton, each seven-pointed. Four of Seven or Fourth of July. There are seventeen stars in the canton, representing the first two digits of the year, 1776. There are 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes, representing the last two digits of 1776. Altogether, the flag spells out, in encoded form, 4th of July 1776.
