Ich habe allerdings im Tolkien Lexikon von Robert Foster nachgeschaut; da steht auch, Thorin sei 2756 geboren, ABER da steht auch, dass Frerin und Dis Thrains (!) Geschwister sind, also komplett falsch. (Ich überprüfe generell vorsichtshalber alles, was ich in diesem Lexikon lese...
Ich glaub, einige Sachen sind einfach seit den 70ern nicht mehr aktualisiert worden.
Schon möglich, dass Tolkien sich mit den Zahlen vertan hatte und daraufhin Thorins Geburtsdatum nach vorne verschoben hat (da müsste man einen Tolkienologen fragen), da hat sich ja seit der Ordnung seiner Notizen einiges geändert.
Im Stammbaum steht übrigens auch, dass Kili jünger ist. Im Hobbitbuch sagt Thorin aber irgendwann: "Fili, du bist der Jüngste!"
Offenbar ist Tolkien selbst auch etwas durcheinander gekommen.
Ich vertraue auf jeden Fall der neueren Angabe, dass Thorin der älteste ist, alles andere macht auch irgendwie keinen großen Sinn.

Mind you, this puts the whole gold-sickness in an interesting light, with the shot of Thorin watching Thror - he remembers who Thror was before he fell ill, the grandfather who happily played with his grandchildren.

I always imagined him as a cuddly grandpa before the gold got him, and Thorin as a grandpa-child rather than a daddy-child, that makes it even more tragic.
