Description
Brink stumbled through the strange land. The ground squished beneath her paws. She was tired. She’d been walking for days. The land here seemed to twist and bend in odd ways. Paths and sent trails seemed to lead nowhere. The almost liquid ground pulled at her paws, sinking them deeper into the earth with each step. Mud matter into her strangely patterned fur. A strange substance floated close to the ground only adding the confusion of the land. It looked like clouds, but clouds were supposed to be in the sky. With shaking paws, she managed to carry herself onto more solid land. Strange purple flowers grew on this part of the ground. Softly she collapsed into them sending the pollen into the air. As she lay there she couldn’t help but be coaxed into breathing in their strange yet lovely sent. She began to wonder if the flower was common around here.
due to the exhaustion she already felt she didn’t notice how light headed she was. As she tried to rise to her paws the world shifted and moved. She tried to correct her balance, but only succeeded in collapsing back onto the ground. The colours of the world seemed to grow dull with every passing moment, yet at the same time they grew brighter. She couldn’t help but feel a little giddy. Did the flower do this? How strange.
Softly she lay in the field, staring at the strange world. The ground clouds moved and seemed to grow solid. Slowly they took the form of a wolf. “Mum?” She questioned the cloud wolf, groggily. “Aren’t you supposed ta be up there?” She vaguely gestured to the sky. The cloud wolf merely gave her a soft yet sad smile, and shook its head. “But you should be stars now. They took you from me. Didn’t umbra caelo come take ya to astrea?” The wolf smiled, sadder this time. “Mamma?” Brink began to feel a sense of fear, “didn’t Selene mater see you that night?” The wolf smiled and turned from her daughter. She gave a soft gesture with her tail, and began to walk away.
Brink scrambled to her paws. “Mamma, wait!” She yelled as she chased after the wolf made from the ground clouds, “Mamma please! Mamma don’t go!” Her paws flew over the earth as she chased a wolf that wasn’t actually there. “Please!” She sobbed, tripped over her own paws and fell to the earth, “don’t leave me again.” The wolf stopped and turned to face her daughter once more, a gentle look on her face. Softly her ghostly paw brushed against the side of Brink’s face, guiding her back to her paws.
”be brave my Paulo avis,” came a voice made of wind, “this is not the end of you. This is the beginning.” Softly the cloud wolf kissed her head and dispersed.
with tear stained vision Brink stumbled through to the Morass territory and collapsed just inside their borders. The last conversation with her mum played in her mind. “Goodbye bye mum,” she choked out before letting exhaustion take her.

this is what happens when you leave brink alone with fever flowers, she starts to see dead people.
Also so so everyone is on the same page, umbra caelo, astrea, and Selene mater are all gods brink and her mother worshiped before brink came to the sanctuary. Umbra is their goddess of darkness/death, Astrea is goddess of stars and Selene mater is “moon mother” or the goddess of the moon. She will be most commonly referred to by brink.
