Description
This was a collage project, we had to paint our spiritual place or a place we felt was safe. I didn't want to do it and had no idea what I wanted to do but I slaped down some acrylic and it became point reyes which is my spiritual place so I went there that weekend and retrieved some sand and drew some sketches. I used pictures of sky and water from Rolling stone (R) and Entertainment weekly (R) and glued them with matte medium. then I added one eye to the upper left symbolizing god watching us, Dave mathews with his head in the clouds looking toward the eye symbolizing man's search for spirituality especially myself in this place with my own head inthe clouds. Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blane from Casablanca (my favorite movie) sits drinking gin in a pic from the famous "of all the gin joints..." speech just before the flash back. He is awash in memory as each wave crashes over him. Harrison ford as indiana jones prepares to grasp the golden statue, symbolizing man's search for beauty and desire to own or posses such things. He is surrounded by the sand I collected from the beach and which unfortunately I had to paint over a bit to make look like an actual beach and not a collection of beautiful pebbles. the sand there is amazing, green, tan, white, red, orange, blue, and more.
