PwediePie, MarkiplierGAME, CinnamonToastKen, Yamimash, Cryotic have met thier match (If only they were Bronies)So Button Mash has sure gone a long way from being a background pony. It's amazing how the fans have truely made MLP for what it is today, I firmly believe that the fans are the captains of the show; Really, with out the bronies, I don't believe MLP would have lasted this long.
Heck! I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Mash AND his darling mother this upcoming 4th Season of MLP.

And while I do agree with you that it is doubtful MLP would still be around without the fandom, I beg to differ on Button Mash or his mother appearing at any time in Season 4. Button might, just due to him originally being a background pony, but his mother will probably never show up.
This is because of some gray area and/or red tape with the industry. Because she is an OC, Dan technically owns her, and the HUB can be sued if they use her without his permission and/or paying for her image. so it is doubtful she will ever make a cameo.
There is also the fact that the episodes take roughly six months to create [as stated by Dave Polsky when I was talking to him]. They were made just a tad too late to show up in Season 4, but I have some hopes that Button will appear in Season 5!
