Description i am collaborating with my friend Andrew (~arealitystudios ) on a body painting/photography project. this is the first installment of the series. i am doing the painting and he is responsible for the wonderful photography.

i know this is not traditionally abstract, but the abstract category seemed to fit my intention the closest. if anyone feels it would fit better in another category, please let me know. i am interested in the form in this, but on a more abstract level. this isn't about doing portraits or artistic nudes. it's about deconstructing the body and how society(ies) have done just that. it is about how these forms, shapes, lines and the negative space all fit together. it is about fitting out bodies into rigid concepts of right and wrong, with chaos dwelling right underneath that top layer of control. so, while the body is an important part of this, the idea of abstracting the body is even more important. it is also about blurring the lines between photography and painting, so while it is a combination of both, i feel it is better suited to the painting gallery.

so there you go. more of these to come.
mediums used: water soluble crayon, acrylic.
2/5/05.

I like the second piece a bit better, but this one is equally as good. Again the shadow, paint and body form, along with the negative space make up a great composition. Good job.

This is eyecatching, and I think the project concept you've described is interesting. I look forward to seeing more of them.
